Pediatric Advance Life Support

The PALS Course is designed to give the Health care provider the basic knowledge to care for the pediatric patient in cardiac arrest and to manage resuscitation efforts in conditions that may lead to arrest.  During this course you will learn by observing, discussing, and doing.  PALS instructors will help you achieve success in completing the following objectives.

Validation:
Participants who complete the class will receive a Pediatric Advanced Life Support provider card.  The card is valid for a two-year period.  Participants will also receive documentation of appropriate continuing medical education credit.  This course is approved for Nursing, Physician, Pharmacy, AANA and EMS credit.

Course Length:

Provider course- Two days (12 to 16 hours)

Renewal course - One day (4 to 7 hours)

 

 

Course objectives:

I. Recognize and treat infants and children in cardiac arrest.

II. Understand strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children.

III. Understand the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in:

·Respiratory failure

·Shock

·Cardiopulmonary arrest
